April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a time for the campus community to come together in support of raising awareness and reaffirm its shared commitment to preventing sexual violence. Sexual Assault Awareness Month is also a time to reflect on the role each member of the community plays in fostering a safe environment. Supporting one another, staying informed and speaking up when something doesn't feel right are all ways of contributing to a stronger campus community.
The Title IX Office encourages wearing teal colors on Tuesdays throughout the month of April to help bring awareness to this important issue. Teal is the official color of sexual assault prevention. By wearing teal, the campus is helping spark important conversation and demonstrates that our campus stands against sexual assault. T.E.A.L. represents Togetherness, Empowerment, Action and Learning.
Members of the U of A community can stop by any of the following locations to pick up a teal ribbon courtesy of the Title IX Office:
- Administration Building lobby
- Silas Hunt Hall
- Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education (Arkansas Union, 4th floor)
- Mullins Library
- Pat Walker Health Center
