Winter Break Information From University Housing
As the holiday season approaches, University Housing wants to ensure all students are ready for Winter Break and the upcoming residence hall closures.
All residence halls — except Holcombe, Gregson and on-campus apartments — will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12. After that time, access fobs will no longer work for closed halls.
Need to Stay Longer?
Students who need to remain on campus past the closing date must submit a Winter Break Extended Stay Request through the Housing Portal by noon on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
- The request form opens Sunday, Nov. 3
- Approval is limited and not guaranteed
- No requests will be approved to stay later than noon Sunday, Dec. 14
Winter Break Checklist
Starting the week of Nov. 17, resident assistants will post a Winter Break Closedown Checklist on each resident's door.
Please leave the checklist posted and sign it only when you leave for break.
The checklist includes:
-
Remove all trash and perishable food
-
Unplug electronics (except refrigerator)
-
Set thermostat to 67°F (if applicable)
-
Move items away from the air unit
-
Close and lock all windows
-
Adjust blinds (closed for first floor, open for others)
-
Check your mail and pick up all packages
-
Take home all pets — no animals are allowed to stay during break
Halls Reopen
All residence halls reopen at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
Thank you for helping ensure a smooth, safe transition into Winter Break!
