The Academic Job Market Preparation Workshop Series schedule of events.

For many graduate students the prospect of obtaining employment after graduation is daunting. The process can be overwhelming, and many don't even know where to start or what opportunities are available. Get the resources and support you need to transfer from student to professional this fall as the Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies Program facilitates The Academic Job Market Preparation Workshop Series.

This four-part series is designed to help you navigate and explore career options, as well as the ins and outs of the application process.

Explore a larger array of employment opportunities in the job market when the series kicks off at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, with an "Introduction to the Academic Job Market," presented by Bri Romanello. Learn how to make your CV stand out in a competitive marketplace, bridge your degree to your career journey and transfer your skill sets outside discipline-based graduate coursework with the "CV & Cover Letter Workshop" presented by Rachel ten Haaf at 3 p.m. Oct. 21.

Promote the unique benefits that you bring to your potential employers while clearly and concisely communicating your teaching and/or research experience with the "Teaching Statement Workshop," presented by Annie Doucet at 3 p.m. Oct. 27 and the "Research Statement Workshop," presented by Daniela D'Eugenio at 3 p.m. Nov. 12. Set yourself apart from the average graduate student by keeping up to date on current expectations and hiring needs so you can take advantage of every opportunity that might be available.

All workshops will take place in the WLLC Digital Humanities Lab, JBHT 207, with snacks provided.
