Welcome Back: Stay Connected, Get Involved and Be in the Know

Whether you're new to the Hill or returning, welcome to the U of A! We're excited to support you throughout your journey here. Here are some tips and tools to help you make the most of this semester:  

Go Hog Wild! 

Explore everything our campus and community have to offer.

Don't miss these events:  

  • A-Week (Aug. 11 - 17): Add these events to your calendar to kick off the year strong.  

  • New Student Pep Rally (Aug. 17, 7:30-11 p.m.): Learn Razorback traditions at the freshman pep rally.  

  • HillFest (Aug. 18, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Arkansas Union Mall): Discover campus offices and organizations.  

  • Razorbash (Aug. 20, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Arkansas Union Mall): Connect with local businesses and nonprofits. 

STAY SMART 

  • First-Year Students: Check out Destination Arkansas Blackboard Activities, a free, non-credit course that helps you prepare for your first year at the U of A. Log in at learn.uark.edu   

Academic Help and Tools:  

  • Computer Labs: Tech Spot computer labs are located across campus and offer printing, charging stations and access to a wide range of software.  

  • Academic Calendar: Mark key dates for holidays, deadlines and breaks.   

  • University Bookstore: Visit for textbooks, course materials, supplies, Razorback gear and graduation essentials.  

Tech Support and Resources 

  • IT Services: Tech support at the IT Help Desk is available in the Arkansas Union; call 479-575-2905 or visit help.uark.edu.  

  • Student Technology Center: Available in the Arkansas Union and offers students technology and equipment access, gaming and leisure, as well as a Digital Media Lab for audio and video production, photography, graphics and animation.  

  • Tech Store and Service Center: Tech support, computer and iPhone repair, software access and more is available at the Arkansas Union and the University Bookstore.  

Getting to class? Plan ahead:  

  • Biking to class? Cyclists on sidewalks follow pedestrian rules, while cyclists on roads follow motor vehicle laws. Review trail etiquette and map your route.  

  • Need a scooter? E-scooters are allowed anywhere bikes are, but remember that campus is a slow zone (under 6 mph).   

  • Need assistance? Our Paratransit service is here to help those with accessibility needs that keep them from being able to use Razorback Transit. Call 479-575-6993 for more information or to apply for Paratransit use.  

STAY HEALTHY

  • University Recreation and Wellness: Join group fitness classes, intramural sports and holistic wellness programs. Grab your bike and ride through the natural surface trails on campus.  

  • Pat Walker Health Center: explore the diverse range of services offered to support the overall health and wellness of every student. Medical care, mental health care, substance use and support services are offered by appointment.  

STAY SAFE 

  • RazALERT: Stay informed with the RazALERT system (pronounced raise-alert) on campus safety issues and emergency weather alerts. RazALERT emergency messages are sent automatically to all campus phones and email addresses if there is an immediate threat to campus safety. Make sure to have your contact information updated.  

  • UAPD: Our full-service campus police department provides patrol, investigation and outreach. Dial 911 for emergencies or call 479-575-2222 for non-emergencies.  

  • SafeZone App:  Free app connecting you with UAPD for safety help.  

  • Pat Walker Health Center's Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS): Critical mental health services including short-term individual counseling, group counseling, psychiatry, case management and a 24/7 emergency mental health service for students, faculty and staff (479-575-5276).  

  • Sexual and Relationship Violence Center: Provides free, confidential advocacy and services related to sexual and relationship violence. Report non-emergency concerns. 

  • UACares: Some things in college are just tough to navigate. If you're having trouble and need support or guidance, the UACares office can help.  

  • Safe Ride: Call 479-575-SAFE (7233) for a safe means of transportation from any uncomfortable or inconvenient situation, after normal bus hours. New this semester: Safe Ride Sunday.  

STAY INFORMED 

  • Follow @uarkansas on social media for official updates. 

  • Explore campus events and connect with registered student organizations on HogSync. (Log in with your UARK credentials). 

STAY CONNECTED 

  • Razorback Athletics: Get your Razorback Access Pass to get student tickets and attend football, basketball and baseball games, in addition to all other Razorback home sporting events.  

  • On-Campus Jobs: If you are looking for flexible hours, income and a community on campus, you may consider on-campus employment.  

  • Merit Pages: Sign in to personalize your Merit profile and get recognized for your achievements.
