The Center for Research on Aggression and Victimization at the U of A is seeking eight more LB Mentors for the fall 2025 semester. Undergraduate students earn three course credits by enrolling in the service-learning course. Each semester, the LB Mentor program teams up with local elementary schools and pairs U of A undergrads with 4th or 5th graders, offering mentorship to younger students. LB mentoring varies from traditional mentoring because it occurs at the school lunch table. Mentors visit a school twice weekly & sit with their mentees during lunchtime and promote positive interactions among peers and offer social support to their mentees.

In exchange for a semester of consistent mentoring and completing all assignments, students earn three hours of course credit (PSYC 2810V). The program is open to undergraduate from all majors. One and a half hours two times weekly lunchtime availability, as well as reliable transportation, is required, as well as a 3.0 minimum GPA. Applicants are required to submit to a background check and brief screening interview.

The course is instructed by Timothy Cavell and graduate assistant Jessica Rice. Please reach out to Isabel Taylor, isabelt@uark.edu, or Rachel Christenbury, rachelc@uark.edu, (Lead LB Mentors) for questions, or submit an application.
