Students Begin Move-Out This Week Across Campus
As the spring semester comes to a close, more than 6,000 students will begin moving out of their residence halls this week, marking one of the busiest transitions of the year for our campus community.
Move-Out activity will be heaviest between Wednesday and Friday, with increased traffic expected around all 20 residential communities. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time when navigating campus during this period leading to commencement.
Resident Parking Lots Open to Faculty/Staff
Starting Monday, May 12, all active university permit types (except economy) can use resident-reserved "purple" parking lots during the summer. This article provides other end-of-semester parking information.
Move-Out with Purpose: Leave Green
University Housing is again partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Potter's House, the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry, and the Office for Sustainability to reduce waste and support local nonprofits during move-out.
Students are encouraged to "Leave Green" by donating gently used items in marked bins in each residence hall. These donations—from clothing and small furniture to nonperishable food—are collected and redistributed for community use, helping to keep tons of waste out of landfills each year.
Our student-led Residents' Interhall Congress plays a key role in organizing this effort alongside our nonprofit partners. Trucks will circulate near residence halls to collect donations from designated pick-up areas.
Students may also contribute to:
-
Campus food pantry via canned goods and dry food bins
-
Bike donation drive through the Office for Sustainability's partnership with Pedal It Forward.
-
Residential students should call 479-575-3715 to schedule a pickup time.
-
Wishing Our Students Well
As students pack up and head home, please join University Housing in celebrating their accomplishments and wishing them a restful and safe summer break.
