Ninth Annual Teach ME Music Education Conference This Weekend
This weekend, April 11 and 12, music educators from across the state and region will meet in Fayetteville to attend this year's Teach ME Conference in the Epley Band Building on the U of A campus.
Attendees will hear from lecturers Deborah Confredo, president of the National Association for Music Education; Scott Burstein, director of Expansion and Advocacy-Music Will; Alice Hammel, NAfME Lowell Mason Fellow and author of Teaching Music to Students with Differences and Disabilities: A Label-free Approach (third edition), Teaching Music to Students with Autism (second edition), Winding It Back: Teaching to Individual Differences in Music Classroom and Ensemble Settings and Teaching Music to Students with Differences and Disabilities: A Practical Resource (second edition); and Daniel Abrahams, associate professor of music education, U of A.
Abrahams says meeting up with other music teachers and professionals is always a highlight of the event. "The conference offers a unique opportunity for the community to see how music teachers are using inclusive strategies to reach all students."
Educators will be able to earn seven Arkansas teacher professional development hours and connect with other music educators, students, professionals and community members.
The conference is free of charge, but attendees will need to register. Visit the Community Music School website at cms.uark.edu/teachme/ to sign up and see a schedule of events for the weekend.
