'Commit to Well' Challenge With New Movement Initiative Aims to Engage Campus Holistically
UARK Wellness, a department within University Recreation and Wellness, is excited to host its annual Commit to Well incentive challenge, which is a free, campuswide initiative designed to engage the U of A community in holistic wellbeing.
The challenge encourages participants to explore the diverse wellness resources available on campus while incorporating the eight dimensions of wellness: social, financial, environmental, emotional, occupational, intellectual, spiritual and physical.
This year, UARK Wellness is collaborating with the Sexual and Relationship Violence Center and University Housing SPEAK to introduce a new movement-based initiative, Together We Move. This initiative promotes solidarity with victims and survivors of sexual violence by encouraging participants to engage in physical activity in any form. Participants can log their movement time in the Commit to Well app and in return, receive an equivalent number of volunteer service hours.
In addition to the movement challenge, participants can earn points by attending events, completing wellness challenges and engaging in various wellbeing activities. A weekly leaderboard allows participants to track their progress and compete with departments across campus. Individuals who accumulate at least 900 points by April 30 will receive a "Commit to Well" T-shirt.
"I'm excited to see the ways our campus community personalizes this experience and transforms the challenge into lasting wellness habits," said Cierra Denton, wellness graduate assistant.
Registration for the challenge opens April 1 at fitevent.uark.edu, where participants can begin logging their fitness and wellness activities.
