The School of Art in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with art education, is pleased to host the inaugural Ink and Inspiration: A Student Writing Retreat. This immersive, full-day event takes place on Friday, April 4, in the newly renovated Fine Arts Center building, including food, workshops and sustained writing time.
"Whether you are new to the writing process, familiar with writing or have been writing expertly for several years, you will find that this retreat will provide tips, ideas to engage or reengage with your work and time to focus," said Kathy J. Brown, Ph.D., endowed assistant professor of art education and director of graduate studies in art education. "The retreat is open to graduate or undergraduate students who will participate in an engaging, one-day writing experience."
The retreat aims to inspire and provoke new ways of thinking as students learn from accomplished scholars in the interdisciplinary field of art education. Brown hopes students walk away feeling inspired with new ideas to tackle, new approaches to their writing projects or to develop techniques to enhance writing.
This year's retreat will include exciting panel presentations and breakout sessions by speakers from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of South Carolina.
In addition, there will be breakout sessions offering perspectives and different writing styles that student writers might be interested in or have never heard of. The writing retreat is open to all disciplines and will embark on this journey of academic writing together.
The presentations, breakout sessions and food are free and open to university graduate or undergraduate students. Attendees are encouraged to register and visit the School of Art's website for more information.
