Diamonds in the Rough 2025 This Friday

The MLK Council and the Black Graduate Student Association at the University of Arkansas, in proud collaboration with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, present "Diamonds in the Rough." This distinguished event represents a powerful coalition of organizations dedicated to celebrating and elevating the voices of Black women in our community.

This special gathering will take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Fermentation Hall in The Momentary, Bentonville.

Event Highlights

"Diamonds in the Rough" will feature dynamic panel discussions and an interactive Q&A session focused on highlighting the significant yet often overlooked contributions of Black women across various sectors. Participants will engage in meaningful dialogue about:

  • Strategic approaches to self-advocacy
  • Leadership development in challenging environments
  • Techniques for narrative reclamation in both professional and personal spheres
  • Practical tools for visibility and recognition

The program is designed to foster an inclusive space for reflection, conversation, and connection among attendees. Distinguished guests from AAmERG have been specially invited to participate in this impactful evening of community engagement.

Creating Meaningful Connections

Beyond the formal program, attendees will have valuable opportunities to network with fellow professionals and community members. Light refreshments will be provided to enhance the social experience.

"This event represents our commitment to creating spaces where Black women can be fully seen, heard, and celebrated," said a spokesperson for the planning committee. "We believe that by sharing our stories and strategies, we strengthen not just individual voices but our collective presence in the community."
