School of Art Provides Free Shuttle to Crystal Bridges for All U of A Students
The School of Art in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to provide a free shuttle open to all University of Arkansas students to and from campus to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. In addition, the school will provide transportation funding for any faculty interested in taking their class to visit Crystal Bridges Museum or The Momentary.
"The School of Art was established with the priority of increasing access to the arts and art education," said Rachel Debuque, director of the School of Art. "Providing transportation for students and faculty across campus to experience the world-class museums in our community is a simple and meaningful way to live out this mission."
Leaders from Crystal Bridges Museum and The Momentary are thrilled to welcome more U of A students to the museums.
"With new art on view and exhibitions opening throughout the spring semester, we are thrilled to welcome students and the UA community as VIP visitors to the museum," said Mindy N. Besaw, director of research, fellowships and university partnerships at Crystal Bridges Museum. "Come to see art, use the library resources, walk the grounds or stop for a coffee — we can't wait to see you at the museum"
Engaging and collaborating with Crystal Bridges Museum and The Momentary extends beyond the School of Art, with colleges and schools across campus participating in dynamic research and community outreach.
"Crystal Bridges and The Momentary are cultural highlights of our region, and I'm thrilled to see the School of Art making them even more accessible to our students and faculty," said Chancellor Charles Robinson. "I encourage the campus community to make the most of this incredible opportunity."
The School of Art has scheduled shuttles for seven Fridays throughout the spring semester for students to visit Crystal Bridges Museum.
Faculty interested in taking a class to Crystal Bridges Museum or The Momentary are invited to complete the School of Art transportation request form and the school will provide necessary funding.
"We're so pleased to offer the new student shuttle service and classroom visit funding options to our students and faculty across the college and university. Both are natural extensions of our long-standing strong partnership with Crystal Bridges, and we hope our students and faculty will take full advantage of these opportunities," said Brian E. Raines, dean of the U of A's Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences which is home to the School of Art.
Students will need to reserve their seat through the School of Art shuttle form, selecting their preferred date. The school will monitor reservations and if reservations begin to fill up, they will upgrade the buses to accommodate more students and/or add additional dates to the spring schedule.
Buses will depart from lot 320, located on the corner of Razorback Road and Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, on the below dates at 10:30 a.m. Students will have the option to leave Crystal Bridges at 12:30 p.m. or 4 p.m. returning to lot 320.
