Arkansas Union Sustainability will host the October Insight Forum featuring Faebyan Whittle from the City of Fayetteville's Environmental Education Team at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Arkansas Union room 310.

"Sustainability forums are opportunities to share the Union's progress on goals and efforts while seeking input and conversation from the campus community," said Grigsby, administrative support supervisor for the Arkansas Union.

This month's featured speaker will give a behind-the-scenes look at the City of Fayetteville's composting program, which is the only certified program of its kind in the state of Arkansas that is run by a municipality. Arkansas Union Sustainability has partnered with the City of Fayetteville to produce a post-consumer compostables collection pilot. This pilot builds upon an already successful program that has existed between Chartwells and the City of Fayetteville since the spring of 2016. This well-established partnership diverted over 30 tons of campus food waste from the landfill in 2023.

"The forum will open with a short welcome and a transparency report from the Arkansas Union's sustainability intern. A member of the Union's Sustainability's Adviser Network will present how they are involved in sustaining our beautiful campus, city and region," Grigsby said. "After the featured presentation, there will be around 30 minutes left for Q&A and general discussion."

Light refreshments and charcuterie from our partners at Ozark Catering will be provided for attendees. Please make a reservation to attend the Insight Forum on Hogsync. Registered participants of Sustainability Insight Forums can receive one volunteer hour through GivePulse.
