Graduate and Professional Students Invited to Sign Up for Recommitment Celebration

The Graduate and Professional Student Congress invites graduate and professional students to sign up for a chance to attend the 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recommitment Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Fayetteville Public Library Event Center hosted by the Northwest Arkansas MLK Council. Interested graduate or professional students should sign up by 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 9 on HogSync. A limited number of tickets are available.

The celebration features Nikole Hannah-Jones, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist renowned for her coverage of racial injustice, including the groundbreaking 1619 Project. Hannah-Jones is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter covering racial injustice for The New York Times Magazine and creator of the landmark The 1619 Project. Originally a special project of The New York Times Magazine, The 1619 Project book debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list. Hannah-Jones also co-wrote a children's book, Born on the Water, which also debuted at No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list.

The Graduate Professional Student Congress advocates for the collective welfare of graduate and professional students at the U of A. GPSC manages and distributes student activity fees paid by graduate and professional students, represents the common interests of these students and speaks with one voice on behalf of its constituents. GPSC seeks to improve the lives, careers, and research of all graduate-professional students at the University of Arkansas. GPSC is a program in the Division of Student Affairs.
