Sydney Kincaid, Panhellenic vice president of diversity initiatives and outreach, interviews Danyelle Musselman during the program.

In an effort to grow, learn and celebrate Black History Month, Panhellenic hosted an Honest Talk: Perspectives and Conversations with Danyelle Musselman. The program was led and moderated by the Panhellenic vice president of diversity initiatives and outreach, Sydney Kincaid.

Kincaid wanted to host a program that allowed for Panhellenic women to hear the views and opinions of a minority woman, and grow and learn as she shared her perspectives as not only a minority, but also as a woman. She said, "Getting to sit down and speak with Danyelle Musselman was such an honor. She not only shared her perspectives on a diverse world but encouraged our Panhellenic members in the efforts that they are taking to be more inclusive. Mrs. Musselman left me eager to form relationships with those who have differing outlooks on life, as it is one of the biggest ways we can learn and grow as individuals. I am so thankful for her willingness to share and speak to our Panhellenic women."

Moderated with prepared questions regarding career development, cultural competency, life lessons and wisdom, was the initial structure of the program. But it was the open Q&A from audience members that allowed students to have real conversations.

Musselman mentioned that, "I loved having the opportunity to join this group of outstanding, young Panhellenic women and have an open conversation about diversity, inclusiveness, goal setting, careers and more. I left the evening blown away by their passion, ambition and desire to be the best version of themselves!"

More than 200 women attended this program and had the opportunity to grow and learn. Panhellenic President Kinsey Landry said, "Hearing about Danyelle Musselman's career success was inspiring. She opened up about her struggles not only as a woman, but also as a black woman in a male-dominated field where she was often looked down on, despite her talent. Getting to hear about her life experiences opened my eyes even more to the biases and inequalities that are, unfortunately, still so prevalent today."

Carissa Kelly, assistant director of Greek Life, said, "It was a privilege to hear from Mrs. Musselman, as she was both authentic and intriguing. When my students came to me with the idea of this program and the importance of it, I was excited to advise them through the development of it. I believe each woman walked away something vital to their growth and education on diversity and inclusion."

This particular program was one of many initiatives that Panhellenic participated in during Black History Month. Chapters hosted book clubs that focused on Black authors, supported Black businesses, invited various diversity presenters to come share vital information that would help educate their community, and fostered cross-council relations.
