Meteorites Topic of Discussion at Upcoming Museum Events

Is it a bird? No, it's a plane. Oh look! It's a meteorite!
On Sept. 24, the University of Arkansas Museum is hosting its Monthly Speaker lecture titled "Meteorites in Arkansas and the World" at 7 p.m. in the Arkansas Archeological Survey Building, 2475 N. Hatch Ave. This event will feature doctoral student, Caitlin Ahrens, and allow attendees the opportunity to study meteorites and meteoritewrongs in person.
Ahrens is currently earning her doctorate in space and planetary science at the U of A and has designed her own lab at the university in order to study Pluto. Ahrens also publishes a radio segment for the Northwest Arkansas's NPR station, KUAF, titled "Scratching the Surface." Ahrens' extensive educational outreach and speaking segments have earned her the title of one of 2018's Ten Outstanding Young Americans.
For those who can't make the 7 p.m. start, the University Museum will also be hosting a booth in the Arkansas Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24. This table will include a selection of the Museum's meteorites and give visitors the opportunity to speak with staff.
In addition to Ahren's lecture, this event will also include free snacks and a fun meteorite activity.
