Faculty Demonstrate Dedication to Student Success Through Teaching Credentials

Eight faculty members from across the U of A have earned the prestigious Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) certification in Effective College Teaching. These fully credentialed faculty represent the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and Health Professions, Walton College of Business, College of Engineering and Global Campus.
The ACUE certification is nationally recognized and awarded in collaboration with the American Council on Education. The program helps educators use evidence-based practices to improve student engagement, increase student persistence and close equity gaps. According to the ACUE website, "These credentials distinguish faculty and institutions for their commitment to educational excellence."
To obtain the full certification, faculty must complete a rigorous program spanning four micro-credentials: Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment, Promoting Active Learning, Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners, and Designing Student-Centered Courses.
Deb Korth, assistant dean for student success in Fulbright College, pioneered the university's partnership with ACUE in spring 2022. Fulbright college continues to lead the way by including ACUE into their Inclusive Excellence Framework. Since the program's adoption at the university, over 350 microcedentials have been earned by university faculty. Thirty-one faculty hold the full credential.
"When our faculty prioritize effective teaching methods and continuously develop their pedagogical skills, it directly translates into greater student learning and achievement," Korth said. "The ACUE certification program equips instructors with evidence-based techniques to create inclusive, engaging classroom environments that inspire inquiry and prepare students for lifelong success. By investing in teacher excellence, we are ultimately investing in the success of our students."
Congratulations to these faculty who earned full ACUE credential during the spring semester and were recognized at the Provost's Faculty Recognition Reception on April 10, 2024.
