Prospective Students Preview Bumpers College Departments and Programs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences invited prospective students to tour their anticipated areas of study within the college and learn more about the University of Arkansas on Sept. 29.

The "Taste of Bumpers" event presented prospective students the opportunity to tour two areas of study within Bumpers College. After a welcome from interim Dean Lona Robertson, ambassadors from each department led the students on their tours. The event included break-out sessions regarding the honors program, international programs, registered student organizations and Greek Life, and college resources. It concluded with a session on scholarships and financial aid.

On departmental tours, students were given information about majors and minors, departmental atmosphere, and internship and career options with the various concentrations of study.

"'Taste of Bumpers' was a great representation of what our college has to offer," said Samuel Emerson, an ambassador representing the Horticulture Department. "The people, content and overall organization was fluent and informative."

Approximately 70 students attended "Taste of Bumpers." Most students in attendance were from Arkansas, but some traveled from Oklahoma, Missouri, Alabama and Wisconsin.

Kathy Gaccione, a mother attending with her son, wrote a follow-up email and said "a special thank you to the Dean Lona Robertson and the Faculty and Staff that bestowed upon us and all the attendees such a nice welcome feeling and personalized attention to learn more about the many opportunities offered at the Bumpers College."
