FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Gabriela Etchegaray will present a lecture at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in Ken and Linda Sue Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville, as part of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design lecture series.

Etchegaray is a cofounder of Ambrosi Etchegaray, an art and architecture studio in Mexico City, Mexico, in partnership with Jorge Ambrosi.

In her lecture, titled "The Landscape of Architecture," Etchegaray will address Mexican territory, recognizing the regional conditions — climate, geographic formations, cultural and social diversity — that exist and function as linked elements to imagine the geography for architecture to emerge. The projects presented will show the configuration and creation of space, as well as the engagement to the land. Emphasis will be placed on materiality and form, showing the quality and understanding of the program, public and private landscape, and context.

Etchegaray holds an honor degree in Architecture and Urbanism, and she is a candidate for the Masters of Science in Critical, Curatorial and Conceptual Practices in Architecture at Columbia University in New York.

She was recently nominated as curator for the Mexican Pavilion at the Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition 2018. Etchegaray was selected for the Moira Gemmill Prize for Emerging Architecture by The Architectural Review in London (2016). She was selected by the Architectural League of New York for an Emerging Voices award in 2015. She has been invited to national and international schools of architecture as a critic and lecturer.

This lecture has been approved for continuing education credits through the American Institute of Architects.

The public is invited to attend. Admission is free, with limited seating.
