Spring Literacy Camp Accepting Applications
The University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions is offering a Spring Literacy Camp for local elementary students on Thursdays from Jan. 19 through May 4, 2017.
Visit the literacy camp web page for registration information.
The camp is open to local students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Seats are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
During days one and two of the camp, tutors will administer a series of diagnostic assessments to determine your child's reading strengths and weaknesses. Tutors are pre-service students. Based on the assessment findings, parent information, and school data, the tutor will plan an individualized remediation program for your child, with the guidance of university faculty.
Parents will receive a written report of all pre- and post-assessment results along with recommendations for further improvement.
The camp — located at Asbell Elementary School, 1500 N. Sang Ave., Fayetteville, and Leverett Elementary School, 1124 W. Cleveland St., Fayetteville — will begin each Thursday at 3:15 p.m. for snacks and then interventions from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The cost of the camp is $99. It is presented by the University of Arkansas Clinic for Literacy. Scholarships are also available.
