On the Road: Razorback Band Travels to Dallas for Southwest Classic
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorback Marching Band will hit the road and head to Dallas to participate in the Southwest Classic when the Arkansas Razorbacks play the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday, Sept. 24, at AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. on ESPN.
The stadium, which serves as home to the Dallas Cowboys, has some of the finest facilities in sports and has hosted the Southwest Classic five times since 2009.
While AT&T Stadium provides the Razorback Marching Band with one of its largest public stages, the band will also use the trip to continue its outreach to high school students in smaller venues. The band will rehearse at Lake Highlands High School on Friday afternoon and perform in exhibition at Marcus High School in north Dallas after the school's Friday night football game against L.D. Bell High School.
"Coming to Dallas each year for the Southwest Classic is such a great experience for our students and a great outreach opportunity for our program" said Benjamin Lorenzo, associate director of bands. "Our students are able to perform in one of the world's premier sporting venues while supporting the Razorbacks. Our rehearsal and performance at local high schools allows us to introduce hundreds of prospective students to the Razorback Marching Band and the University of Arkansas."
The game begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Marauders Stadium located at 5707 Moriss Road in Flower Mound, Texas. Tickets are $8 at the gate.
