Gamer RSO Holds Charity Game-off for the United Way of Northwest Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Gamers can play their favorites while helping children get out of poverty at the Gaming for a Cause charity game-off, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, April 22, in the Student Technology Center in the Arkansas Union.

The event features three major tournaments playing Super Smash Bros, League of Legends and Hearthstone, along with five smaller tournaments for fans of NBA2K15, Mario Karts Wii, Street Fighter IV, FIFA 2016, and Guitar Hero. 

Twelve hours of extreme fun along with free food and drinks and prizes to the victors.  

The Gaming for a Cause has a cause – the United Way of Northwest Arkansas. The U of A registered student organization OGRE – the Organization for Gaming and Recreational Events – is hosting the extravaganza to raise $5,000 to help build a pathway out of poverty for about 26,000 children in this community.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted at the event or online at https://www.gofundme.com/t3ytzkrw. Everyone is welcome and invited to play, or just watch the competitions.
