FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Honors College will present the Schola Cantorum as part of its "House Concert" series from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12. The intimate performance will take place in the Honors Student Lounge (Room 130) in the Honors College wing of G. David Gearhart Hall.

The choir has performed on The Today Show, at the Vatican and at the White House Rose Garden in its prestigious 59-year history. Schola Cantorum tours nationally and internationally giving around 15 concerts each academic year. Next month, it is embarking on a six-concert European tour to the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.

The eclectic program ranges from early music by Guillaume Dufay (1397-1474) and Thomas Tallis (1505-1585), to Bach's "Wir Danken Dir, Gott, Wir Danken," folk music and "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5.

"One of the greatest attributes of the Schola Cantorum is their ability to perform music from all cultures, all languages, and all time periods," said Stephen Caldwell, choir director and professor of music. "Part of what drives me as an educator is the opportunity to expose our students, and our audience, to brilliant music from all over that they might not hear otherwise. Cheeky pop music of the 16th century Dutch renaissance can be, and indeed is, still relevant to our times as much as the Jackson 5."

Light refreshments will be served. All on campus and in the community are welcome, but please RSVP as space is limited.
