FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Steve Henry will present a lecture at 5 p.m. Monday, March 14, in Ken and Linda Sue Shollmier Hall, Room 250 of Vol Walker Hall, on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville, as part of the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design lecture series.

Henry is a principal at BAMO in San Francisco, one of the nation's leading luxury interior design firms. He also is a prolific artist who uses watercolor as his medium of choice. In addition to satisfying a personal passion, this talent also allows him to quickly communicate ideas to clients and staff through sketches and paintings.

In this lecture, titled "Steve Henry: Arkansas Traveler," he will discuss how he made his way from a small town in Arkansas to the big city of San Francisco. He will discuss his favorite projects — including the historic Grand Hotel a Villa Feltrinelli in Italy, a five-star luxury hotel in Madrid and a lovely private residence in Tribeca — and give a glimpse into unique corners of the world through a designer's eye.

He will also discuss the intricacies of interiors, share some of his firm's high-end hospitality and residential work and illustrate the opportunities within the industry today. Wrapping up with a bit of inspiration, he will share a "few of his favorite things," as well as tips for young designers in the creative realm.

Henry was raised in Arkansas and educated in Texas. He moved west to San Francisco to pursue interiors at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill before joining BAMO as its third employee.

A principal at the firm since 2003, Henry has worked with many of the world's leading hotel operators and has designed houses for many discerning clients. His strength is in layering, and he is able to pull unexpected and eclectic elements together in harmony.

Henry was honored with Interior Design's Outstanding Achievement Award in 1992. His work has appeared in Architectural Digest, House & Garden, Town & Country, Interior Design and Hospitality Design. His portfolio includes The New York Palace, Four Seasons Hotel Boston, The Grand Hotel a Villa Feltrinelli and The Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai, as well as private residences around the world.

Through a cooperative effort between the Fay Jones School, the Department of Landscape Architecture and the Arkansas ASLA Chapter as an ASLA LA CES provider, this presentation has been approved for 1.5 LA CES continuing education hours for landscape architects.

This lecture also qualifies for AIA Continuing Education System learning units.

The public is invited to attend. Admission is free, with limited seating.
