Richard "Dick" Komer, a senior attorney for the Institute for Justice, will speak at noon Friday, Jan. 22, on the University of Arkansas campus. His lecture is titled "The Constitutional Context of School Choice."

The lecture is part of the Department of Education Reform Lecture Series and will take place in Room 309, Graduate Education Building.

Those planning to attend any of the lectures in the series are asked to RSVP on the Department of Education Reform's website before 1 p.m. the Wednesday preceding the lecture.

Komer litigates school choice cases in federal and state courts. Several of his current cases involve the constitutionality of allowing school choice programs to include religious schools among the private schools that can participate.

The Institute for Justice, which is based in Virginia, is a nonprofit libertarian public interest law firm, according to its website. Before joining the organization, Komer worked as a civil rights lawyer for the federal government, including the departments of education and justice and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia.
