FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jason Burrow will join the Department of Theatre in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences as an assistant professor of music theatre this fall. Burrow comes to the University of Arkansas from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, New Studio On Broadway.

"We are happy to welcome professor Burrow back to Fayetteville," said Michael Riha, department chair. "His experiences in New York, coupled with his understanding of and love for the University of Arkansas, will be very beneficial to helping our students grow artistically."

Burrow's students have worked on and off Broadway, in national tours and in regional theaters. While in New York City, he also worked as a musical director, actor, vocalist, voice teacher/coach and accompanist. He has been part of more than 90 productions and performances for regional, national and international audiences including the 68th Annual Tony Awards broadcast and Mariah Carey's 2014 Christmas Concerts at the Beacon Theatre in New York.

"Fayetteville has always held a special place in my heart, and I'm happy to be back home," Burrow said. "My main goal as an educator is to create a safe and challenging environment where students leave with a better understanding not only of the subject matter, but of themselves and how they fit into their discipline and the world around them."

Burrow's musical direction credits include A Little Night Music, Violet, Beauty and the Beast, and LaChiusa'a Wild Party in New York. He has also worked in Fayetteville, with TheatreSquared, on Next to Normal.

Burrow holds a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Arkansas and two Masters of Music, one in music performance and one in pedagogy, from Ohio University.
