Parent Partnership Association Awards Three Book Scholarships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Parent Partnership Association awards book scholarships annually to current University of Arkansas students whose parents or guardians play an active role in their time at the U of A and in the Parent Partnership Association. Recipients of fall 2014 PPA Book Scholarships are Rebekah Eddy, Lauren Doran, and Andrew Bingham.

Recipients demonstrate campus and community involvement, academic success, financial need, and an understanding of the beneficial role parents and family members play in the college transition.

Rebekah EddyRebekah Eddy is a sophomore honors student from Mount Pleasant, Texas, majoring in economics with a minor in mathematics.  She is a R.O.C.K Camp Mentor, where she assists incoming students transition into the University and college life. She is also a Student Ambassador and a member of Sigma Phi Lambda and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society. Rebekah maintains a 4.0 GPA and is eager to continue pursuing success through her college experiences.

Lauren DoranLauren Doran is a sophomore from Ozark, Missouri, pursuing a degree in community health promotion and a minor in Spanish. She is a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority and will serves as a Student Ambassador. She is a graduate of the Emerging Leaders program and involved with many student organizations including Invisible Children, Far From Fifteen, and CureU. Her future plans are to work for a non-profit organization that promotes community development abroad through education while implementing sustainable initiatives that empower citizens to become self-sufficient.

Andrew BinghamAndrew Bingham is a sophomore business economics major from Little Rock. He is involved in many campus activities including Leadership Walton, Beta Upsilon Chi Fraternity, Emerging Leaders, intramural sports, and serves as treasurer of the Hotz Honors Hall Senate. He helped to add several hall improvements in Hotz such as extra workout equipment and cookware. He enjoys baseball, traveling, and many outdoor activities. Upon graduating, he is interested in pursuing a graduate degree in law or business.

PPA is dedicated to helping families transition into the University and facilitating communication between parents, students, and the university. PPA is a major component of the Parent & Family Programs area in the Division of Student Affairs.
