FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jessica Bradley, a recent graduate of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences at the University of Arkansas, has been named the Outstanding Dietetic Student by the Arkansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

She is now eligible to earn the national undergraduate award.

Bradley, who is from Cord in Independence County, earned her bachelor’s degree in food, human nutrition and hospitality with a dietetics concentration. The award was announced at the academy’s meeting in Little Rock.

“Jessica is a strong, hardworking student and leader,” said Mechelle Bailey, dietetics instructor in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. “She has shown herself to be a woman of integrity and strong character. She has proven herself to be a responsible and effective leader, and we are pleased she has been recognized for her efforts.”

The Arkansas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recognizes emerging leaders and high-achieving students in programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics.

The Bumpers College’s School of Human Environmental Sciences has produced the last two state winners. Taylor Martin, who is now completing a dietetic internship and her master’s degree at St. Louis University, was the 2013 winner.

Bradley has earned an internship position at Mississippi State University where she will also attend graduate school.
