University of Arkansas Student Named a New Face of Engineering

Joe Wyatt, a senior in the department of biological and agricultural engineering at the University of Arkansas, has been included in the National Engineers Week Foundation’s first annual New Faces of Engineering College Edition.

According to National Engineers Week, this list includes “15 of the most promising college engineering students from the United States—and across the world.” The winners were recognized for their academic, leadership and communication skills, as well as their involvement in community service and the engineering industry.

Wyatt was recognized for his involvement in the American Indian Science and Engineering Society. Three years ago, Wyatt helped establish a chapter of AISES at the University of Arkansas, and he currently serves as vice president.

A participant in the Engineering Career Awareness Program at the University of Arkansas, Wyatt has conducted undergraduate research on algae and water quality and microfluidic devices. He plans to attend graduate school and study biomedical engineering.
