RAPE REPORTED ON CAMPUS, UA POLICE SEEK INFORMATION
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - On Friday morning, April 25, at approximately 12:53 a.m., the University of Arkansas Police Department received a telephone call from the mother of a University student, reporting that her daughter had been raped on the University of Arkansas campus.
The mother was calling from Russellville, Ark., to report the crime while talking to her daughter on another telephone simultaneously. Police and CEMS responded to the student's location at Gibson Hall. The student was transported to Washington Regional Medical Center.
The student, 19 years old from Russellville, reported that the rape occurred after midnight, outdoors between Humphreys Hall and Brough Commons Dining Hall. An unidentified male attacked her from behind and forced her to the ground. He is described as a white male with green eyes wearing a black ski mask, black sweater and blue jeans. The student believes the suspect is out of shape because he had heavy breathing. She thought he was about six feet two inches tall and weighed between two hundred sixty to two hundred eighty pounds. She said he was around thirty years old. The student does not know which way the suspect left the area.
This incident occurred on the south side of Brough Commons Dining Hall. If anyone saw or heard anything unusual between midnight and 12:50 a.m. on Friday morning, the police department requests your assistance. Citizens are encouraged to use caution and be alert when parking or walking on campus, especially after dark. As a safety precaution, everyone is encouraged to walk in pairs or in groups. An alternative to walking alone, the Razorback Patrol Escort Service is available Sunday through Thursday, from 6 p.m. to midnight, at 575-2222. Police officers will provide escorts at other times as requested.
