FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — For one hour on Sunday, Feb. 25, concertgoers at the Walton Arts Center will enjoy a rich variety of music spanning three centuries performed without pause or applause by University of Arkansas student musicians. Soloists will include clarinetist Sam Ross, narrator Jessica Sudduth, marimbist Oliver Molina, alto Sarah Mesko and pianist Lyndon Meyer. The audience will also be treated to music played by the members of a piano quartet, the Trumpet Ensemble and the UA Schola Cantorum. The concert, which begins at 4 p.m., will cost $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors and $1 for UA students. Tickets are available at the Walton Arts Center box office.

Among the pieces featured in the program are Fanfare of the Bells by Jennifer Fletcher, Vertical River by Blake Tyson, Fanfare for St. Edmundsbury by Benjamin Britten, A Runner’s Fanfare by Rob Roy McGregor and Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine by Eric Whitacre.

“I’ve modeled this concert after one that Louisiana State University offers every year. It invariably plays to a full house and yields a great deal of goodwill for the school of music there,” said David Goza, director of orchestral activities in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas. “I would like people in northwest Arkansas to hear for themselves how enormously talented our students are at the University of Arkansas.”
