George H.W. Bush to Speak at University of Arkansas; Parking, Security and Program Information

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former president George H.W. Bush will deliver a free lecture at Barnhill Arena on the University of Arkansas campus at 8 p.m. Monday, April 6, as part of the university’s Distinguished Lecture Series. The public is welcome and no tickets are required.

Free parking for the event is available at most university parking lots after 5 p.m. except for Resident Reserved lots and other marked spaces. Paid parking is also available at the Stadium Drive Parking Facility. A map of university parking lots and additional parking information is available at http://parking.uark.edu.

The doors on the north side of Barnhill Arena will open at 7 p.m. Because of security concerns, each person entering the arena will be required to pass through a security checkpoint. Please allow extra time for this preventive measure. Cameras and personal items will be checked. Signs, banners, posters and noise makers will not be allowed inside the arena. Pocket knives will be confiscated. Please do not bring large bags, backpacks, strollers or baggage; these items must be left at the entrance.

Internationally renowned pianist and university professor Jura Margulis will perform a program of music before Mr. Bush speaks, beginning at about 7:30 p.m. Six members of the University of Arkansas Army ROTC Razorback Brigade color guard will present the colors immediately before the lecture and Amy Crain, Miss University of Arkansas, will sing the national anthem.
