Fulbright College Names Assistant Director of Development

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Patti Cox has been named assistant director of development for the University of Arkansas J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, effective Sept. 23, 2004.

The assistant director of development's primary responsibility is to secure private sector funding and to foster relationships for the college. Cox will play an important role in executing the college's component of the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century, which includes raising funds for the college and University Bands.

Her experience in public relations and higher education will be a vital part of the development team in Fulbright College as they continue to grow and expand their program."

Cox brings with her more than 20 years of experience as a writer, public relations specialist and volunteer coordinator. Most recently, she served as an account executive, political consultant, and copywriter for Williams-Crawford & Associates, a Fort Smith-based advertising, marketing and media firm. Cox was vice-chair of the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board during her six year term on the board, was the editor of Fort Smith Etc. Magazine, and worked as an editor at the Southwest Times Record and the Arkansas Democrat. She also served as chair of the Sebastian County Election Commission.

Cox holds a B.A. in English from Hendrix College in Conway. She is married to James O. Cox, a Fort Smith attorney, and they have two children. Their son is a sophomore at the University of Arkansas and their daughter is a senior at Hendrix College.
