FIVE UA FRESHMEN ARE ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF THE COCA-COLA SCHOLARSHIP

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Coca-Cola Foundation awarded $36,000 in scholarships to five of the University of Arkansas’ 1999 freshman class. Of those, four are in the amount of $4,000 each and one is in the amount of $20,000.

Since the establishment of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation in 1989, scholarships totaling $120,000 have been awarded to 14 incoming UA freshmen.

This year’s Coca-Cola Scholars, selected from an applicant pool of 137,000 high school seniors from across the country, are:

Jennifer Snider - Bixby, Okla.
Matthew Clayton Simpson - Carlisle, Ark.
Shannon Sudbery - Blytheville, Ark.
Shondra Pruett - Springdale, Ark.
Thad Hardin - McGehee, Ark. (Recipient of the $20,000 scholarship.)

Beginning with this year’s class, the Coca-Cola Foundation increased the number of scholarships awarded annually from 150 to 250. The foundation has made scholarship awards to 1,750 high school seniors since 1989.
