DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE AND FOUNDATION RELATIONS APPOINTED FOR UA OFFICE OF DEVELOPMENT

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Former trucking industry executive Dan Hendrix, of Fayetteville, has been appointed as the director of corporate and foundation relations for the University of Arkansas Office of Development, effective Feb. 12, 2001.

The director of corporate and foundation relations position is new to the development organization and will play an important role in developing new relationships with corporations and foundations and nurturing the existing partnerships with current supporters of the University. Hendrix reports to Sandra K. Edwards, assistant vice chancellor for development.

Edwards said, "A critical mission of the development operation is to build and maintain solid relationships with corporations and foundations. Dan’s experience and insight as a senior-level corporate officer will be invaluable to us as we further our development efforts. Gifts from corporations and foundations have traditionally accounted for a significant portion of our overall annual fund-raising totals."

Hendrix attended the University of Arkansas and is a graduate of Arkansas State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business with minors in marketing and management. He comes to the U of A after several years of senior level management positions in the transportation and logistics industry, most recently as vice president/general manager of Trucks for You in Muskogee, Okla. He relocated to Northwest Arkansas in 1998 to become president and CEO of another transportation company.

Hendrix said, "I’m excited about becoming involved with the UA community. I’m also looking forward to building upon the University’s relationships, and identifying corporations and foundations that might benefit from a liaison with the U of A."

In fiscal 2000, gifts made by corporations and foundations provided 50.3 percent of the total $83 million in private gift support.

Hendrix and his wife, Marilyn, have four children, two of whom are UA alumni.
