Chartwells Earns Two Regional Awards

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Chartwells at the University of Arkansas and Vickie Peterman, director of satellite operations for Chartwells, were named South Central Regional Account of the Year 2007 and the Salaried Associate of the Year 2007 respectively. The announcement was made at the Chartwell’s regional summer meeting in San Marcos, Texas, on July 11 at the “Be-A-Star Awards Banquet.”

Chartwells is a private company that operates dining services at the University of Arkansas. Dining centers on the Fayetteville campus include Brough Commons, the Northwest Quad, Pomfret Honors Quarters and the Union Market Food Court. The Chartwells at the University of Arkansas is part of the region that includes colleges and universities in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas.

"We are extremely pleased that the Chartwell's operation here at the University of Arkansas has been recognized as the best in the region," said Danny Pugh, the dean of students. "There are also some exciting things happening with the satellite operations around the campus, so to have the director of those operations named the best in the region shows that Chartwells is doing a good job of serving the students and the entire campus community."

The account of the year award is based on performance in corporate and regional-wide initiatives including diversity, sustainability, safety and community involvement; overall financial performance; and the commitment to providing great people, great service and great results.

Peterman was nominated by the executive management staff at the University of Arkansas Chartwells for going above and beyond the call of duty. She is responsible for the successful operation and training of associates in the satellite operation for Chartwells on the Fayetteville campus including, RZ’s Coffee House, Club Red convenience stores, Peabody Perks, The Parking Spot at Harmon and the newest locations opening this fall including a coffee shop in the new J.B. Hunt Transport Service Inc. Center for Academic Excellence and the Walter B. Cole Café in the new Willard J. Walker Hall.
