Associate Director of Planned Giving Named

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Houston R. Harrison (B.S.B.A., 1991) has been named the University of Arkansas’ associate director of planned giving in the Office of University Development. He will be responsible for planned giving publications and advertising, as well as cultivating and maintaining relationships with benefactors of the university. Harrison reports to Jim Harris, director of planned giving. His first day was Feb. 1.

Harris said: “I am pleased to welcome Houston Harrison to the planned giving team. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the planned giving program. And, I am confident he will serve our most loyal university supporters well. We are thrilled with his decision to come back to Fayetteville and back to the University of Arkansas.”

Harrison began his career in the insurance business, first with MetLife Financial Services in Springdale and then with Nationwide Insurance and Financial Services in Fayetteville. In 2002, Harrison relocated to Bellevue, Wash., where he worked for Snider Retirement Strategies Inc. and the local MetLife Financial Services branch.

Harrison has been involved with various community service organizations including the Seattle and Western Washington Chapter of the Arkansas Alumni Association and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas. He has also received honors from MetLife and the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.

Harrison said, “I am excited to be returning to Northwest Arkansas and to have the opportunity to work with a very talented and dedicated team in the Planned Giving Office. The University of Arkansas is blessed with alumni who have distinguished themselves in numerous fields, and I look forward to working with these great folks when they decide to include the University of Arkansas in their estate plans.”
