Arkansas Alumni Association and the Market at Pinnacle Point Sponsor Fund Raiser for Academic Scholarships

ROGERS, Ark. - The first ever Big Bad Chicken Cook-Off, hosted by the Arkansas Alumni Association and The Market at Pinnacle Point, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9 at The Market in Rogers. The community event will help fund academic scholarships awarded to UA students through the Alumni Association. Individuals and groups are invited to participate.

"We're excited about the partnership with The Market," said Terry Bumgardner, director of communications and marketing for the Arkansas Alumni Association. "The event will be great fun, plus it promises to offer more academic scholarship dollars for university students."

The Market will donate five percent of store sales on Oct. 9 to establish an academic scholarship fund for deserving students through the Arkansas Alumni Association Scholarship Program.

Event participants will compete in several categories to include Best Over-All Tailgate, Most Spirited Tailgate, Most Original Tailgate and Best Flavor & Taste.

The Big Bad Chicken Cook-Off will challenge and test tailgaters' ability to work under pressure. "Folks will be given a whole chicken, some special ingredients from The Market, and about an hour and a half to come up with the most attractive and best tasting chicken dish they can," says Executive Sous Chef Steven Brooks. "It's going to be a whole lot of fun.for a really wonderful cause."

All interested participants should contact Kelly Crenshaw at The Market at Pinnacle Point to pre-register ($15.00 for the Tailgate Competition / $25.00 for the Chicken Cook-off and Tailgate Competition).

The Big Bad Chicken Cook-Off is co-hosted by The Market at Pinnacle Point and the Arkansas Alumni Association. The event is also sponsored by Citiscapes Magazine, and proceeds benefit scholarships through the Arkansas Alumni Scholarship Program.
