Employee Reminders: Mandatory Training, Conflict Disclosure and Annual Leave Carryover

As the fall semester reaches its halfway point, employees are encouraged to review several important requirements and deadlines that can affect compensation increase eligibility, leave balances and compliance with university policies.

Mandatory Employee Training is Current by Dec. 31

Mandatory employee training remains one of the university's crucial annual compliance requirements. University policy requires employees to complete assigned training as a minimum job expectation and as a condition for eligibility for future compensation increases.

Employees should review their training transcript in Workday Learning and be up to date on all mandatory training by Dec. 31, 2026. These trainings include:

  • Annual Cybersecurity Training
  • Avoid, Deny, Defend: Active Threat Training
  • Accommodating People with Disabilities
  • Child Abuse: Mandatory Reporting
  • FERPA
  • Harassment and Discrimination
  • Clery Act and Title IX
  • Duty to Prevent Violence (supervisors only)

Employees who do not complete required training by the deadline will become ineligible for compensation increases in 2027.

Complete Conflict of Interest and Commitment Disclosures

Full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week are required to complete an annual Conflict of Interest and/or Commitment (COI/C) Disclosure in Workday, regardless of whether they have a conflict to report. The disclosure helps identify and appropriately manage situations in which personal, financial or outside interests could affect, or appear to affect, university responsibilities.

The annual disclosure deadline is Dec. 31, 2026. Employees who have already completed a disclosure since July 1, 2026 and have no new actual or potential conflicts to report may have already satisfied the requirement. Employees who do not complete required disclosure by the established deadline will become ineligible for compensation increases in 2027.

Review Annual Leave Balances

Employees should also review their annual leave balances and make plans for any leave they wish to use before the end of the calendar year.

Annual leave may be carried forward up to the limit of 30 days or 240 hours as established in UA Board Policy 420.1. Employees whose balances exceed their carryover limit at the end of the year will forfeit excess hours. Employees are encouraged to review their balances and discuss leave plans with their supervisors.

Alternatively, employees can utilize the Annual Leave Exchange Benefit introduced this past year.
