Open Enrollment Begins Oct. 19 for Benefits Eligible Employees

The annual benefits open enrollment period for U of A employees to select plans for 2027 will begin Oct. 19 and close Nov. 2. Employees will receive an open enrollment task in their Workday inbox. Benefit changes that are not limited to open enrollment can be managed through the "Benefits and Pay" tab in Workday.

What's changing in 2027

Beginning Jan. 1, 2027, accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity insurance will be provided through Securian Financial, replacing UnitedHealthcare (UHC) as the supplemental coverage provider. Employees can expect enhanced coverage options, lower plan rates and added features designed to provide more financial protection when unexpected health events occur.

Employees who wish to maintain their current coverage do not need to take any action during open enrollment. Workday will automatically transfer existing coverage to Securian at the same coverage level. Employees may also make changes to their coverage during open enrollment if they choose.

While most benefit selections are automatically re-enrolled, employees interested in the following benefits must manually re-enroll:

• Healthcare Flexible Spending
• Dependent Care Flexible Spending
• UMR Live Well Reward$ Wellness Program (through the UMR website) . 

Open Enrollment Office Hours

The human resources benefits team will host office hours throughout open enrollment for employees who have questions or need assistance with their benefits.

Oct. 19 10 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.
Oct. 22 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Oct. 27 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Oct. 29 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
