The U of A welcomed representatives from universities across the country on Oct. 7-9 for the 2026 National Campus Bike Summit.
The summit is designed to provide sustainable transportation managers with information and support to help make their various campuses more bicycle friendly. The U of A is nationally recognized as a gold-level bike-friendly university by the League of American Bicyclists due to its campus infrastructure, safety programs and active transportation resources.
Attendees began the summit at the monthly Cruise to Campus event on Old Main lawn before participating in a group bike ride to explore campus biking facilities. The rest of the summit involved presentations about best practices from transportation professionals, along with visits to neighboring Northwest Arkansas campuses and numerous group discussions.
"Hosting the National Campus Bicycle Summit is an honor and an endorsement of the progress we've made in enhancing bike infrastructure and culture on campus," said Eric Boles, director of the Office for Sustainability. "Leading by example and learning from our peers is exactly where we want to be."
