Chancellor, Provost Lead U of A Recruiting Visits to High Schools in Batesville, Newport

University of Arkansas Chancellor Charles Robinson and Provost Indrajeet Chaubey recently visited three high schools in North Central Arkansas to tell students about the opportunities available at the U of A.  

The recruiting trip included stops at Batesville High School, Newport High School and Southside Batesville High School. Robinson, Chaubey and members of the university’s admissions team spoke with students about the value of higher education and the support available to help students succeed at the U of A. 

“One of the most important things we can do is to make sure all students across our state know the University of Arkansas is their university,” Robinson said. “There are amazing students in every part of our state, and we want them to see that a world-class education and all the opportunities that come with it are within their reach.”

The U of A currently has 57 former graduates of the three high schools enrolled including 14 in the freshman class.

“Students across Arkansas bring tremendous talent and ambition to our campus,” Chaubey said. “Visits like these give us an opportunity to hear directly from students about their goals and to show them how a U of A education can prepare them to build successful careers and make a meaningful difference for their families and communities.”

The visits are part of the university’s ongoing effort to connect directly with prospective students across Arkansas and expand access to higher education. 

“We are grateful to the teachers, counselors and administrators who welcomed us into their schools and who work every day to help students prepare for what comes next,” said Suzanne McCray, vice provost for enrollment and dean of admissions. “These partnerships are incredibly important as we work to ensure students across Arkansas understand their options and have the information and support they need to pursue a college degree.”

The university’s admissions office visits schools across the state on an annual basis including 356 visits in 2025-26. Chancellor Robinson has personally visited 53 schools since 2022.
