U of A students looking to gain hands-on experience with startups can apply beginning Sept. 21 for two paid internship programs offered through the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
The established Venture Intern Program and the new Startup Intern Match connect students directly with early-stage companies and entrepreneurial organizations. Interns can work alongside entrepreneurs, contribute to meaningful projects and gain firsthand experience in the fast-moving environment of a startup.
Venture Intern Program
The 12-week Venture Intern Program gives students firsthand exposure to how early-stage organizations operate and make decisions. Since launching in 2020, the program has connected U of A students with startups, entrepreneurship support organizations and investor networks across Northwest Arkansas.
Depending on their placement, interns may gain experience in areas such as strategy, fundraising, financial planning and other projects while working closely with company leaders.
Students selected for VIP work at least 15 hours per week and earn $15 per hour. The program is open to U of A juniors and seniors from any discipline across campus who meet eligibility requirements.
New This Spring: Startup Intern Match
Startup Intern Match is a new paid internship program led by the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center in partnership with the U of A Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (OEI) and Northwest Arkansas Community College.
U of A students selected for the program will be matched with early-stage startups for 12-week internships, working 10 hours per week and earning $15 per hour. OEI is leading the student side of the initiative, which is expected to place 140 U of A and NWACC students in paid internships over the two-year program. Students of any major can apply.
Participating startups will also take part in the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center's Milestone Circles program, which provides founders with coaching and onboarding support before interns arrive.
Together, the programs expand the ways U of A students can experience entrepreneurship from the inside, gain experience solving problems and build professional connections while working with growing companies.
Applications for both spring programs close Oct. 12.
