Arkansas Business Hall of Fame to Induct Walton Siblings During Walton College Centennial

As the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas celebrates its Centennial, the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame will mark the milestone with a historic induction: Rob Walton, Alice Walton, Jim Walton and the late John Walton — the four children of Walmart founders Sam and Helen Walton, will comprise the Hall of Fame’s 2027 class of inductees.

The induction ceremony will be held Friday, Feb. 5, 2027, at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.

The 2027 class creates a powerful connection between the college’s history and its next century. Their father, Sam Walton, was a member of the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame’s inaugural class in 1999. Twenty-seven years later, his four children will be honored together for their contributions to business, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and the state of Arkansas. The induction carries an additional connection to the University of Arkansas: Rob Walton earned a degree in business administration in 1966, and Jim Walton earned a degree in business administration in 1971, both from the university’s business program. Together, the four siblings have extended a family legacy rooted in Arkansas while influencing business, education, arts and culture, conservation, philanthropy and communities around the world.

Walton College of Business. “Rob, Alice, Jim and John Walton each built upon the values instilled by their parents while forging their own paths of leadership and service. To honor all four during our Centennial year is an extraordinary moment for Walton College and for Arkansas.”

A Legacy That Comes Full Circle

The timing of the 2027 induction carries particular significance for Walton College, founded in 1926.

The late Sam Walton was inducted in 1999 as a member of the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame’s first class, recognizing an entrepreneur whose vision began in Arkansas and ultimately transformed retail around the world.

The Hall of Fame will now recognize the individual contributions of all four of Sam and Helen Walton’s children.

“This is an Arkansas story with global reach,” said Jason LaFrance, president of Dale Capital Partners and chair of the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame selection committee. “There could be no more meaningful time to recognize this family. As we reflect on the first 100 years of Walton College and look toward what comes next, the Walton family represents so much of what we hope to inspire in our students — entrepreneurial thinking, bold ideas, service to others and the belief that what begins in Arkansas can have an impact far beyond it.”

The induction comes as Walton College marks a century of educating business leaders, advancing knowledge and connecting the University of Arkansas to the business community. Throughout the year, the college is honoring the people, ideas and defining moments that shaped its first century while looking ahead to the opportunities of its next 100 years.
