New Team Launches Integrated Approach to Employee Engagement, Recognition and Wellness

The Office of Human Resources has established a new team to organize its efforts around employee engagement, recognition and wellness programming.

The engagement, recognition and wellness (ERW) team brings together employee engagement, recognition and wellness efforts under a single framework designed to strengthen workforce stability and enhance the employee experience. These outcomes are directly tied to the University's 150 Forward Employer of Choice strategic pillar. The initiative is based on the idea that while the university offers strong programs in each area, greater integration can help employees more easily access resources, provide feedback and engage with opportunities that support their success.

Led by Angela Mosely-Monts, Ph.D., director of engagement and wellness, the team also includes Alicia Herrera, staff development and engagement specialist, and Myrlinda Soedjede, staff wellness specialist. Together, by integrating employee feedback, recognition programs and wellbeing resources, the team aims to support retention, engagement and institutional effectiveness across the university.

Several well-established employee programs and initiatives are now being coordinated through the ERW framework, including the annual Staff Recognition Reception, Employee and Colleague Resource Groups, the Employee Engagement Survey and related action-planning efforts. Bringing these programs together under a single strategy will help strengthen communication, improve participation and ensure employee feedback, recognition and wellbeing initiatives work in concert to support a more connected campus community.

Faculty, Staff and Graduate Assistants are encouraged to join the team for an informational kick-off event focused on celebration and connection. The engagement, recognition and wellness team will host three events next week open to all employees.
