U of A Faculty Lenora Green-Turner Named President of Arkansas NATS Chapter

The Department of Music is proud to announce that Lenora Green-Turner, teaching assistant professor of voice in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, has been elected president of the Arkansas Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM).

These appointments recognize Green-Turner's leadership in music education, vocal performance and advocacy, while expanding the university's presence in two influential professional organizations dedicated to advancing excellence in the performing arts.

As president of Arkansas NATS, she will lead the statewide organization in supporting voice teachers, students and collaborative artists through educational programs, professional development, auditions and performance opportunities. NATS is the nation's leading professional organization for teachers of singing, serving thousands of voice professionals across the United States and internationally.

In addition to this statewide leadership role, Green-Turner will serve on the Board of Directors of the International Alliance for Women in Music, an international organization dedicated to promoting and supporting women in music through performance, research, education and advocacy. As a board member, she will help guide initiatives for the "Search for New Music": honoring new compositions by women in several categories and genres that foster greater visibility and opportunity for women composers, performers, educators and scholars around the world.

"These leadership opportunities allow me to serve the profession while creating new opportunities for collaboration, mentorship and artistic excellence," Green-Turner said. "I am honored to represent both the University of Arkansas and the state of Arkansas in these organizations, and I look forward to supporting students, colleagues and the broader musical community through this work."

Green-Turner's appointments reflect an ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, performance and professional service. Through leadership at the state and international levels, Green-Turner continues to strengthen the university's reputation as a center for artistic innovation and academic excellence while creating meaningful opportunities for students and faculty to engage with national and global networks.

This award is received with great thanks to associate professor Moon-Sook Park for endorsing Green-Turner for this position with the International Alliance for Women Musicians. The appointments further underscore the U of A's commitment to faculty leadership and service, highlighting the impact of its educators beyond the classroom through contributions that shape the future of music education and the performing arts.
