The Sam M. Walton College of Business invites faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends to celebrate the retirement of Dr. Mary Lacity, distinguished professor and David D. Glass Endowed Chair in Information Systems, and recognize her many contributions to Walton College and the University of Arkansas.

Lacity joined Walton College in 2018 and quickly became a driving force in advancing the college's leadership in emerging technologies. As the founding director of Walton College's Blockchain Center of Excellence, she helped position Walton College as a leader in blockchain research, education and industry engagement. In 2022, she was named a distinguished professor and the David D. Glass Chair in Information Systems.
Throughout her career, Lacity earned an international reputation for research on information technology services, blockchain, service automation and digital innovation. She has authored more than 30 books and more than 100 scholarly publications and has shared her expertise through keynote presentations around the world. Her work has been recognized through numerous honors, including being named an AIS Fellow by the Association for Information Systems, one of the profession's highest distinctions. In 2024, she received the SEC Faculty Achievement Award representing the U of A, recognizing her outstanding record of research, scholarship and service.
Colleagues also know Lacity as a dedicated teacher, mentor and collaborator whose commitment to research excellence has helped strengthen Walton College's national and international reputation. In 2024, she received Walton College's Outstanding All-Around Faculty Award in recognition of her impact across teaching, research and service.
