The Student Success Center Writing Studio has received certification as a Level 1 and 2 tutor training program by the internationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). This effort was led by Writing Studio Coordinator Christopher Borntrager and Senior Project and Program Director Anne Raines.

The Student Success Center Writing Studio has developed a tutor training program that meets CRLA's rigorous standards and has successfully completed the International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) peer review process. Achieving certification means that the Student Success Center Writing Studio has met CRLA's high standards for tutor selection, training, direct service and evaluation as an integral part of their overall tutoring program.

"Chris, Anne and the entire Writing Studio worked hard to receive this certification, and the tutoring program will help us advance student success within our office and across campus," said Deborah Korth, senior associate vice provost for student success and academic excellence. "I'm proud our staff's dedication to not only improving our programs but also to helping our students thrive at the U of A and throughout their academic journey."

The Writing Studio provides one-on-one writing consultations to all students at any stage of the writing process. Students can work with a Writing Studio consultant to receive assistance with writing course papers, scholarship essays, personal statements, other application documents and more. During a consultation, students learn revision strategies for developing their academic and professional writing skills. Visit the Writing Studio webpage for more information.
