Transit and Parking End-of-Year Announcements

Photo: Submitted

Transit and Parking Services is preparing for the end of the spring semester and start of the summer. Here are a few announcements to be aware of as the year wraps up:

  • Parking: Parking will be enforced as usual through Friday, May 8. This includes Reading Day, May 1, and Monday through Friday of finals week. Beginning Monday, May 11, any vehicle with an annual faculty/staff or student permit (except the economy permit) can park in resident (purple) lots until Aug. 3. Some lots will not be available due to construction.
  • Move-Out: Housing will provide students with a parking pass to allow parking in the lot closest to their residence hall for a designated time. Parking in safety hazards such as fire lanes or ADA spaces is not permitted during move-out. More than 6,000 students will begin moving out of their residence halls this week, marking one of the busiest transitions of the year for the campus community. Move-out activity will be heaviest between Wednesday and Friday, with increased traffic expected around all 20 residential communities. Please plan accordingly and allow extra time when navigating campus during this period.
  • Graduation: Commencement ceremonies will take place May 8-9. Ceremonies are scheduled during the morning and afternoon of Friday, May 8, which will increase traffic on campus. With expected heavy traffic on campus, employees may consider working remotely on Friday, May 8, if possible. Razorback Transit will run its non-peak operations on May 8 in response to the added traffic and will not run on Saturday, May 9. Download the Passio GO! app to view live bus locations and receive transit announcements. Several parking areas will be open to guests and family members for graduation. The university's commencement parking map shows available parking locations for visitors.
  • Bus Service: Transit will operate its non-peak routes and hours beginning Monday, May 11, and will continue to do so until early August.
  • Safe Ride: During finals week, Safe Ride will transport students from their residence hall or the Union Station to their car in any on-campus parking lot, in addition to its regular services. The last day SafeRide will operate this semester is Thursday, May 7. SafeRide will not operate during the summer.
  • Permit Expiration Dates: The annual faculty/staff and student permits for green and orange lots expire July 31. Current resident and student garage permits expire May 31. Parking will send emails to students, faculty and staff this summer when permits for the 2026-2027 academic year are available for purchase. Once permits are available, they can be purchased online at myparkingaccount.uark.edu.
