The U of A has released detailed results from its most recent Employee Engagement Survey, marking another step forward in a campuswide effort to elevate the employee experience and enhance the university's reputation as an employer of choice. The detailed results are now available on a new, publicly accessible webpage that provides employees with a deeper look at survey findings at the campus level. The site builds on the initial survey results and next steps that were shared earlier this year.
Since the release of the initial findings in March, vice chancellors, deans and other senior leaders have begun meeting with their respective teams to review unit-level results, gather feedback and identify key engagement drivers to prioritize. Those conversations are already translating into action.
"Across campus, leaders are not only reviewing the data but using it to guide real decisions," Amy Ochoa, senior associate vice chancellor for Human Resources, said. "Action planning is underway in many areas, and in some cases, changes are already being implemented. Moving quickly into action planning reflects our commitment to being an employer of choice."
From Feedback to Action
The results show variation by unit, underscoring the importance of localized discussions and solutions rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. "This level of detail allows leaders and teams to focus on what matters most in their specific areas," said Ashley Ingram, senior HR director - talent development, talent management, engagement and experience. "The goal is not to address everything at once, but to concentrate on the drivers that will have the greatest impact on engagement."
Each vice chancellor and dean is identifying a small number of engagement drivers to focus on in 2026. Those priorities are informing unit-level action plans that are designed to be measurable, achievable and responsive to employee feedback. Human Resources will continue to support leaders and teams with tools, resources and guidance as action plans are developed and implemented.
Commitment to Ongoing Engagement
The survey is not a standalone exercise but part of an ongoing commitment from university leadership to listening, learning and improving which includes tactics such as the Employee Engagement Survey, COACHE Faculty Survey, Employee Value Proposition Survey and other feedback mechanisms. Employees are encouraged to review the detailed results and continue participating in discussions within their units as improvement efforts move forward.
