As the spring 2026 semester comes to an end, the Office for Sustainability is hosting their bi-annual Bicycle Roundup, which aims to collect unwanted bicycles before students leave for summer break. Do you have a bike you no longer need? Don't leave it to rust on the rack!
For many people, bicycles are more than just a fun weekend activity; they are an invaluable transportation tool that supports basic needs, such as getting to work, to the doctor or even to the grocery store. Bicycles offer the freedom to zip across campus, explore the vibrant Northwest Arkansas community and venture beyond, all while keeping costs low, spirits high and sustainability in focus.
By contributing to the spring 2026 Bicycle Roundup, you can support your peers and help provide essential transportation services to our campus community. Your gently used bike will help grow the recently established U of A Bicycle Library, which provides students, staff and faculty with an affordable and sustainable means of transportation.
Established this past summer, the Bicycle Library was formed through the collaborative efforts of the Office for Sustainability, University Libraries and UREC Outdoors. Fourteen refurbished bikes were made available to rent, and all 14 were rented for one semester or more! The 2025 fall Bicycle Roundup helped add an additional nine bikes to the Bicycle Library inventory, ushering in a season of growth, support and lots of miles traveled by bike. By the end of 2026, the Bicycle Library hopes to have at least 70 bikes available to rent for students, staff and faculty.
